Chilean Native Denies Involvement Despite DNA Evidence

BOULDER, Colo. -- A man accused of killing a University of Colorado student more than 10 years ago is now scheduled to enter a plea in his case Sept. 4, after a new arraignment date was set on Thursday.Diego Olmos-Alcalde, 39, is suspected in the beating death of Susannah Chase. The 23-year-old from Stamford, Conn., was beaten with a baseball bat, sexually assaulted and left unconscious in an alley on Dec. 21, 1997. She died at a hospital the next day.
Olmos-Alcalde, a native of Chile, was linked to the case through DNA evidence and was arrested Jan. 26. He has repeatedly denied any knowledge of Chase's death and said he had not been in Boulder since he was 16. He did not speak at Thursday's hearing.
