A fire that heavily damaged a duplex in Grand Junction, is being blamed on a five-year-old boy, who set a bed on fire, authorities said.

The young boy and four other children were able to make it out of the Fruitvale home safely. Their mother was not home at the time.

The fire started around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, according to the Grand Junction Fire Department.

Alondra Guerrero, 14, says her family has nothing. The Red Cross has placed the Guerrero family in a hotel for three days. Neighbors and relatives have also offered to help.
