BRIGHTON, Colo. — Police said they believe they have found the body of a man wanted in a recent homicide.

According to the Brighton Police Department, preliminary investigations indicate that the body is likely that of 33-year-old Ryan Johnson, who was wanted by police for questioning in connection to a Thursday morning homicide. Police believe the man died of an apparent suicide.

Johnson was wanted by police after they found a woman in her thirties who had been killed at East Gate Village, a mobile home park located at 3060 E. Bridge St. in Brighton. Police put out a warning to the public about Johnson, whom they suspected was armed and dangerous.

Johnson’s body was found in a field near the location of the crime, police said.

“While the case remains open and positive identification of Johnson’s body is still underway, Brighton police are confident any danger Johnson presented to the public has passed, and would like to thank residents for their patience and assistance during the course of this investigation,” according to the police department.
